Hello! I’m SYDNEY NITZKORSKI, MS, RD, CSSD.

I’m a registered dietitian and fitness instructor based in the Hudson Valley, NY.

Most of the time I love working out and eating healthy foods. I also love chocolate and usually have a little bit every single day.

I have a B.A. from Brown University in Community Health and an M.S. from Columbia University in nutrition and exercise physiology.  Before becoming a nutritionist and personal trainer, I was a competitive gymnast, competing for Brown (Go Bruno!).

Being an athlete from the ages of 2-22 led me to develop a deep curiosity and respect for the way that food affected what my body was able to do (both in terms of energy and the resulting effect on my body weight).

I believe that any amount of exercise is better than nothing and sometimes a short workout can encourage healthier eating throughout the day.

After finishing my masters degree, I started counseling as an RD.  I quickly realized that while talking about food was important, without also incorporating an exercise plan for my clients, I was missing part of the picture. I added personal training to my resume so that I could guide clients with an informed plan to alter their caloric input (food) and their caloric output (exercise) to more efficiently meet their goals.  I love listening to clients talk about their individual challenges and helping them come up with a plan that will work for their specific situation.

I've been working in the field of nutrition and exercise for 22 years and have a passion for helping individuals find ways to incorporate exercise and healthy food into their lives in a way that makes sense for them.

I look at my work as part educator and part strategist. Once someone knows what they should be doing in terms of food and exercise, the next step is figuring out the strategies that will help them accomplish those goals within the parameters of their sometimes stressful, often busy day.  As a wife and a mom of 2 children, I recognize that not everyone has unlimited time and energy for cooking and for working out.

my goal is to help people figure out a way to improve their health, decrease their stress, and feel happier by coming up with realistic goals.

I'm thrilled that my first book, The Complete Bone and Joint Health Plan: Help Prevent and Treat Osteoporosis and Arthritis (Countryman Press) comes out on May 6th 2025.

I've been working on it for over 2 years with my lifelong friend and co-author, orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jocelyn Wittstein, MD. We wrote it because we couldn't find a resource that combined education, recipes and exercises for both bones and joints all in one place-so we decided to make one! Both Jocelyn and I are passionate about cooking healthy food and working out in ways that make us feel as good as possible. We are so excited to share what we've created.
